KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – June 10, 2022): The Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Karachi extends all possible support to the Pakistani side to strengthen bilateral contacts and cooperation for the benefit of both countries.
To increase the bilateral volume, the two countries needed to expand the dimension of their economic cooperation. There was huge untapped potential in almost every area of business partnership. Bilateral trade was mainly limited to basic goods, although many other products and services were available to offer to each other, said Consul General of the Russian Federation here Andrey V. Fedorov during an interaction with the media at the Consulate late Thursday evening.
He said Pakistan could export surgical instruments, leather and sporting goods to Russia. Pakistan also had huge potential in the information technology and pharmaceutical sectors. However, Pakistan was also keen to purchase cancer drugs due to their high efficacy and reasonable price.
The commercial attachés of the two countries have also worked hard to lift bilateral trade and economic cooperation to a new high level, he said.
He said his country is ready to provide all necessary assistance to execute the Pakistan Stream gas pipeline project from Karachi to Lahore.
The Russian envoy mentioned that his government is closely monitoring developments around Pakistan Steel Mills.
“We are awaiting the completion of the international tender and are ready to share the necessary information with Russian companies to prepare their bids for participation in the revival and modernization of MSPs,” he said, adding that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and Special Economic Zones offer huge opportunities. to strengthen our bilateral trade and investment.
The consul general said Pakistan and Russia could get another boost as last week Pakistani Finance Minister Dr Miftah Ismail expressed the Pakistani government’s interest in buying Russian oil.
“Russia is open to cooperation with any political party as long as the relations are mutually beneficial and constructive,” he reiterated.
He said Russia wants to develop relations with the whole world, including Pakistan. Russia considered Pakistan a friendly country and when friendly countries talk at the negotiating table, they agree on everything.
