A 30-year-old Sikh woman here in the United States has committed suicide after suffering years of alleged domestic abuse at the hands of her husband.

Mandeep Kaur, 30, allegedly took her own life on August 3 after posting a video online in which she spoke of years of domestic abuse by her husband Ranjodhbeer Singh Sandhu.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Mandeep Kaur in Queens, New York, in the most tragic of circumstances. We are in contact with U.S. federal and local officials as well as the community. We stand ready to provide all assistance,” the Indian Consulate tweeted on Saturday.

Kaur leaves behind two young girls aged 4 and 6.

In the video uploaded, Kaur, seen crying and in distress, says she can’t take the abuse anymore and also talks about taking her own life.
